The outdoors have always played a critical role in my life, and I firmly believe that exposure to nature and the outdoors is of huge benefit to not only our students, but educators also. When we remove screens and other indoor learning tools and place students in an outdoor environment, we often see a wonderful transition into the sublime and the curious! I am always looking for new ways to get our students into environments where they can let their curiosity run wild in the great outdoors!

I have thru-hiked the West Highland Way in Scotland, as well as the Lone Star Trail in Texas. Other hikes of note include ascending Guadalupe Peak and a variety of day hikes on the Appalachian Trail.

I can often be found, in cooler weather, on trails around Denton, Texas.
